FOSTER S. COVINGTON
Pastor Covington has been the pastor of Victory Independent Baptist Church since July of 2004. Pastor Covington served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1963 until 1991. He was then called to pastor the Alconbury Independent Baptist Church, United Kingdom until 2000. After that time, he served as associate pastor of the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Conyers, GA under the leadership of Pastor Rick Stucke until July 2004 when he accepted the invitation to pastor Victory IBC. Pastor Covington and his first wife Georgia have three children, and she served faithfully by his side until her death on Aug 1 2017. Pastor Covington is now married to the former Ravenna Cash, who has come along side to serve with him.
I was born into a preacher's home and baptized into membership of the church at five years old, but I was born again in 1969 when I was convicted by the Holy Spirit of my sin while at work. I bowed before the Lord in the break area and gave my life to Christ asking Him to move me and promising to serve him for the rest of my life. The Lord moved us to Puerto Rico where we joined the Borinquen Baptist Church under pastor Bill Coffman, and I was baptized as a born again believer.
After that time, my wife and I sought to serve the Lord where ever we were assigned by the United States Air Force. It was on one such assignment to Martinsburg, West Virginia when the Lord called me to preach. On the 18th of July, 1973, Pastor Thomas Martin licensed me to preach, and one year later the church ordained me as assistant pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Martinsburg.
I remained in the military receiving a Bachelors degree from Shepherd University and receiving a commission as an officer in the USAF. My wife and I have two adult sons: one in Texas and one in the US Navy, and in 1994 the Lord brought a three year old little girl into our lives that we have raised as our daughter.
We have served the Lord in churches in seven states and several countries. We did whatever the Lord put to our hand to do. He has been faithful to us, and we strive to be faithful to Him.
